Kona stay guides · Culture & nature

Choose a Kona lūʻau around your group’s evening, not only its stage photographs. The route home, seating arrangement, dinner format and youngest guest’s bedtime can matter as much as the performance. A quieter afternoon beforehand gives the whole group a better chance of enjoying it.

Best for: a shared dinner and performance during a family or group stay.
Area: Kailua Village, Aliʻi Drive or Keauhou.
Time: reserve the afternoon and evening around check-in and the show.
Reserve: one coordinated booking; request group seating directly.
Budget: tickets by age, seating tier, tax, fees, parking and transport.

Compare three locations and seating formats

Lūʻau Location and published format Best question for your group
Voyagers of the Pacific at Royal Kona Resort Aliʻi Drive overlooking Kailua Bay. The FAQ describes communal tables and an approximately 2.5-hour dinner and show. How will our whole party be seated, and what does the selected admission tier change?
Island Breeze Lūʻau at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel Kailua Village by the pier. The ʻOhana package uses a shared table; the Aliʻi package describes a table for your party in the front section. Does our full guest count fit the package’s private-table arrangement?
Feast & Fire at OUTRIGGER Kona Resort & Spa Keauhou Bay. The resort describes pre-dinner activities, a meal and performance, with general and private seating options. Which current seating option, access route and check-in time best fit our group?

Start with the calendar, then settle the seating

At the October 11, 2026 check, Voyagers listed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. Island Breeze listed Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Treat these as a planning shortlist: the date-specific booking calendar and your confirmation control the actual performance, check-in and cancellation terms. Use the OUTRIGGER booking calendar for Feast & Fire’s current dates.

Send the adults, children’s ages and total headcount in one request. Tell the venue if one table is essential, or whether neighboring tables would work. Several separate reservations under different names may not be grouped automatically; ask the venue how to connect them before purchase.

Match the evening to the people coming

Travelers Plan before booking Make the afternoon easier
Toddlers and younger children Ask about infant tickets, high chairs, stroller storage and leaving early. Keep the main outing short and protect the nap window.
Teens Let them compare the menus and pre-show activities. Leave enough time to return home and change without rushing.
Older adults or anyone with access needs Describe the actual needs: distance from drop-off, surfaces, steps, seating and restroom access. Arrange transport and a comfortable place to wait before entry.
Several households Choose a seating tier and spending limit everyone accepts. One organizer keeps the confirmation and check-in instructions.

Plan a local day around the show

For a town lūʻau, make breakfast and a short Kailua Village outing the daytime plan. Return to the rental for lunch, rest and showers, then travel back with a parking margin. For a Keauhou evening, a short southern Kona outing fits better than a cross-island drive.

Do not attach a lūʻau to the end of a long volcano day. The show has a fixed start, while road trips, children’s energy and weather are less predictable. If part of the group prefers to stay home, arrange a simple meal for them so nobody feels obliged to attend.

Compare the complete price

  • Check which ages use adult, child or infant tickets; the bands differ by operator.
  • Compare general seating and upgrades for the benefits you actually need.
  • Read the menu and ask the operator about dietary requirements before booking.
  • Include taxes, processing fees, parking, transport and optional purchases.
  • Read the weather and cancellation terms, and keep the confirmation accessible offline.

Enjoy the stories with attention

These commercial shows can include traditions from several Pacific cultures. Listen for the distinctions made by the performers rather than treating every dance as Hawaiian. Follow photography and participation guidance, and keep ceremonial or historic places near the venue separate from the dinner-show setting.

Find a home that fits this plan

Home features are based on the individual Airbnb listings. Check the current guest limit, sleeping arrangements, rules and full price for your dates. Public map positions are approximate. Activity and meal suppliers are independent bookings.

A few questions before you book

Does an upgraded ticket always mean a private table?

No. Seating language differs. Ask what your selected tier provides for your exact party size.

Can we choose the cheapest child ticket for every child?

Use each operator’s published age bands and include infants in the reservation as instructed.

Are these lūʻau tickets part of a Kona Luxe reservation?

No. Book the venue separately; home availability and show availability are independent.
